About Me
A resident of San Antonio, Texas and Columbia, Maryland, is an inspirational writer/poet and film producer; his talents include sketching, painting, writing lyrics, and screenplays. Michael earned a Bachelors Degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Broadcast Management from Bowie State University, Bowie, Maryland, in May of 1999.

Currently, Michael works with at-risk youth and young adults in preparation for obtaining a GED, teaching career preparation skills and Entrepreneur Development classes at Woodland Job Corps, Laurel, Maryland.

Michael is known as the inspirational and motivational poet. He uses his spoken and written poetic skills to provoke thought in others. He expresses that his poetry "is a mirror that reflects life." He has published two books of poetry, "Life As Is..." November 1997, and "Prelude To Life Poetry” August 2001. Michael’s first Independent short film “Going Down,” which dealt with the issue of domestic violence was displayed at Dream in Washington, DC, as part of the Elevator Pitch Independent Film Contest.

“Broken” is his first feature film. Michael began writing the screenplay in January 2005 and started filming in May 2006, and completed production August 2008. “The process has been long and hard, but I think it’s the final product that’s important and its purpose. God placed this film in my heart and provided the means that I need to produce it. The crew, actors, and I have even experienced our own issues of brokenness before and during the process of doing this film. Knowing that we have God and praying for one another allowed us to continue to move forward and seeing this project completed. My intentions for this film are enjoyment, spiritual awareness, and knowledge of why it’s important to create and develop a true relationship with God.”

Wake Up African American Filmmakers!

African American Filmmakers member Michelle Karman recently wrote, “This site appears to be dead! C'mon, people!!!!”

I don’t understand the inactivity on this site. I’m not sure if it’s apathy, or the fact that many of the members here are busy for months at a time and don’t have the time to log on, but whatever it is, it has led me to question why I still have a profile here and has me considering deleting it. I’m not writing this to cast aspersions on the members of this forum, but to express… Continue
